Sothonwararam Worawihan is an ancient temple established alongside Chachoengsao town where is enshrined Luang Por Sothon, a revered Buddha statue for Padrew locals and people everywhere from the past. It is located around 2 kilometers from the market town. It was originally a private temple created at the end of Ayutthaya era. According to historical records, it was named \"Wat Hong\" because of \"swan pillar\" in the temple, a tall pole with a swan on the top. It later broke and fell to the ground leaving only the pole, so someone managed to hang a flag in its place hence, \"Wat Sao Thong\". When the pole broke in half, it was called \"Wat Sao Thong Thon\". While \"Wat Sothon\", which means \"pure\" and \"sacred\" was called by the name Buddha Sothon or Luang Por Sothon that has been enshrined in this temple. Later, Wat Sothon was adopted as a third class royal temple of the Worawihan type and named \u201cWat Sothonwararam Worawihan\u201d by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on August 8, It consists of two-story shell shaped building and is divided into 2 zones as follows. 1. Fiberglass clamshell dome with a diameter of about 18 feet, can be opened to view the sky around. Inside the dome is a telescope of 0.5 meters in diameter. 2. Star watching deck under a rectangle roof has two 14-inch telescopes, two 6-inch telescopes, and two solar telescopes installed and roof is controlled with electric motors. -Planetarium has a semi-circular roof. A 10-meter diameter dome with a 25-megapixel full-dome digital projector can accommodate up to 50 audiences at a time. Model of solar system, objects in the space, and astronomical phenomena are exhibited throughout. -Observation deck for outdoor astronomical observatories displays astronomical drawings for more than 100 meters long around the wall of the observatory. -Botanical observatory is a conserved botanical garden of edible plants and cultivars. The area is about 18 rai and used as a public park for people to relax as well as activities sponsored by the community and the government. This is one of the regional observatory projects for the people by the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) to be a learning center in eastern and central regions All 196 columns were used and the temple has also kept relics from India. In addition, Wat Phrong Akat also has many interesting features like imitated images of Luang Por Sothon, of Luang Por Wat Ban Laem, of Luang Pho Toh, of Luang Por Wat Rai King, and of Luang Por Wat Khao Ta Krao.
