Neung Khet Ancient Market is an old market aged over 130 years. The name came from a canal, which cut through it. It was formerly known as “Tha Kai intersection” because Tha Kai canal from Padrew split into the field. Later, the government dug Neung Khet canal from San Saeb canal to connect with Tha Kai canal and the market was cut by a canal and Neung Khet canal thus becoming an intersection, which later was the center of trade. Originally, this market area was mostly occupied by Chinese and Chinese descending Thai who were engaged in trading on this center of water trading especially, rice, tea, oil, and fresh produces. However, with the changing means of transportation, this market was declining leaving only some old houses and the way of life along the canal. The mayor of Neung Khet municipality thus began to revive the traditional trading of this market by having the villagers traded along the canal again. As a result, it created income for people in the community as well as preserved traditional culture. Neung Khet Ancient Market has also been established as Chachoengsao tourist Distinguished aspect of the temple is the grand golden pagoda chapel as a landmark of Padrew. Inside it is enshrined the relics bestowed from India. The Ganesh Park of Wat Phrong Akat is enshrined a huge beautiful Blessing Lord Ganesh, which is clearly visible from the street outside the temple. All 196 columns were used and the temple has also kept relics from India. In addition, Wat Phrong Akat also has many interesting features like imitated images of Luang Por Sothon, of Luang Por Wat Ban Laem, of Luang Pho Toh, of Luang Por Wat Rai King, and of Luang Por Wat Khao Ta Krao. The shop offers various sizes and choices of fillings like, salted bean and squash with salted eggs. The mooncakes are sold in red boxes. These mooncakes are made from original Teochew recipe making the layer crusts very soft and thin, and stuffed with good amount of fillings.
